Gallery Natalia Goldin,
Stockholm 2005
Inside the gallery there was a narrow stairway
leading the visitor up two flights to a landing. When leaning over
the banisters you could see the stairway winding down 5 floors. At
the bottom you were able to see other visitors, visitors who were
actually just around the corner and one flight down. After a few minutes
the lights turned off making it pitch black. With the exception of
a flickering red light glowing from a switch on the wall, the only
thing you could see was a swan, slowly circling around in the stairway
two floors below. When the wall switch is pressed, the stairway is
relit and the swan vanishes leaving visible once again only the depth
of the floors beneath. |
